In the capable hands of director Neale Donald Walsch, this Randall Theatre Company production delivers on all levels...With its powerful cast and meticulous production detail, "Steel Magnolias" is a lovely way to spend a summer evening. It's sort of sweet and frothy like a syllabub and as unexpectedly bracing as a mint julep...Walsch thought of Sims, an old friend from Tennessee, to play Truvy. (Sims is an award-winning country western musician and her recorded songs provide the music prior to curtain and during intermission.) Sims seems to effortlessly inhabit the role, holding together the other characters' story lines while subtly giving us telling glimpses of the salon owner's personal heartache..."
Ashland Daily Tidings (Oregon)
July 29, 2013 - A wonderful email from Mr. Jon Cypher on his visit to see 'Steel Magnolias' at our first matinee showing (Mr. Cypher is particularly remembered as Chief of Police Fletcher Daniels in Hill Street Blues, a role he played throughout the lifetime of the series, 1981-1987 along with a great film, TV and stage career).
"Dear Randall Theatre, My wife and I, as guests of Dee, saw Steel Magnolias yesterday at the Sunday Matinee. I cannot express sufficiently how stunned we were by the excellence of this production. Every actor, the staging, the lighting, every aspect of the show absolutely superb. Brilliant work by a great cast complemented by wonderful direction. I laughed and I wept and ain't that what theatre is all about! I told your stage manager after the show that you could charter a plane, fly to New York, open the same production the next week and beyond any doubt whatsoever win the Tony Award for best play. I'm tempted to say it's Broadway quality but, since there's a lot of junk on Broadway, I won't say that. I was in the original productions of The Disenchanted, Man of la Mancha, 1776, The Great White Hope...great stuff. (I won't name the flops!!!) Bless your work. Brilliant. And in Medford, Oregon no less! Wow! Thank you, Jon"

"The previous Songs For The Soul concert featured the very talented Joel Atkins and the ever popular Annie Sims. Annie debuted her new CD "Go Within", featuring 11 positive message songs. Beautifully sung, and very nicely produced by husband Greg Sims, these truly are songs for the soul.
